Arts & Crafts, Nature and Theatre
Ages 3 to 8
Arts and Crafts, Nature, and Theatre are activities for our students aged between 3 and 8 (from preschool group “P3” to 3rd grade). The three activities are instructed entirely in English and taught by native teachers who are specialised in teaching English as a foreign language.
Arts and Crafts
The pupils experiment with different types of paper, paints and recycled materials which are used to create very original crafts. Children derive various benefits from making crafts. It helps them to develop their creativity, to express themselves and show the world as they see it. Furthermore, it improves the child’s patience and perseverance and boosts their self-confidence.
Nature
The children have fun and learn English while learning about nature and caring for the environment (the importance of recycling, renewable energy, sustainable food etc.). We have a vegetable patch in our WonderFUN-garden where the children plant, care for and water our plants.
This activity allows us to increase our pupil’s awareness of matters related to ecological farming, sustainability and other important issues. In addition, the children learn to work as a team, to be organised and to consistently care for their garden. We believe that if children acquire healthy habits at a young age, they are more likely to continue these in their adult lives.
Theatre
The children choose a theme and compose a play in English which they later perform for the parents. The group learn about every aspect of making a play: they play at being screenwriters, directors, set designers, make-up artists and costume assistants.
Theatre offers a way of improving oral English skills and allows our pupils to develop their body language. We try to give them the tools they need to feel less embarrassed, to communicate better, to feel safer and to help one another.
We live in a world in which the development of creativity is very important. Therefore, the staff at WonderFUN encourages artistic creation, as we believe that art sets children’s imagination free and helps them to express their feelings.
